IMO, yes. To say the least, extremely similar. The patterns are almost identical.
Back then, it was the printing press. Today, it’s AI. Both changed the speed, scale, and control of narrative spreading. The Reformation could be as much a media revolution, vs. theological revolution. Martin Luther used the novel info tech of his time to challenge the institutional and influence others.
